Jan Bednarek hasn't yet played too many minutes in Lech's senior team. Nonetheless, the young defender is optimistic and says he will continue working hard.
Jan Bednarek is a center back. In Skorza's team the rivarly on this position is intense. Apart from the 18 year-old there is also Paulus Arajuuri, Marcin Kaminski, Tamas Kadar, Maciej Wilusz and Antonijs Cernomordijs that are competing for the spot in the defense.
"The rivalry is big, however this is how it looks in clubs like Lech Poznan and you have to take it into account. I am not only talking about my position. Therefore, all I have to do is keep on giving my all in the training sessions and continue working hard," said Jan Bednarek. "You have to wait patiently for an opportunity. I have to make a good impression on the coach and when the time comes, I have to go on the pitch, play well and not waste the trust that's been given to me."
In the spring round the homegrown player of Lech's academy has appeared on the pitch once. In the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Polish Cup the defender played 45 minutes against Znicz Pruszkow. Until now Bednarek has played more minutes in the third-league reserve team of Lech Poznan.
"I have talked to coach Skorza a few times. He said to me that it will better if I play in the reserves than watch the first team's matches from the bench," said Bednarek. "I am a young player, and therefore each minute spent on the pitch is valuable to me. The coach told me his vision and I fully agree with it. I think we are heading in the right direction. At the beginning of the upcoming season I want to make a solid entry into the senior team. Lech is my home and that's the club I want to win trophies with."
