“Working with the first team and training alongside so many world-class players gives me a chance to develop and realize all the goals I have set for myself,” said Miłosz Mleczko, Lech’s youngest goalkeeper.
The 17 year-old goalkeeper joined the first team at the beginning of the current season. He’s already been a part of the 18 men squad that travelled to league matches. The young goalkeeper watched the matches against Śląsk, Termalica and Piast from the bench.
“The atmosphere surrounding the matches of the first team is amazing. It differs completely from what it feels like to compete in the third league,” said Mleczko. “The pace is much faster, the players are more experienced and their individual skills are on a different level,” explained the youngster.
Mleczko is one of the three goalkeepers in Lech, alongside Jasmin Burić and Matus Putnocky. The 17 year-old admits that training with the two is a great lesson. “Jasiu and Puto are outstanding goalkeepers, but also good friends on whom I can always count. I try to learn from them. The advice they give me during training sessions are very valuable to me and I always make sure to remember all the tips they give me,” emphasized the young goalkeeper.
Mleczko hasn’t yet debuted in Lotto Ekstraklasa, but he’s been playing regularly in the third league where he’s been gathering crucial experience. The young goalkeeper also played in the reserves team three times and all those games ended with a win. “My aim is to play as often as it is possible. Every game is a new challenge for me, no matter what league I compete in. I always want to give my best,” said the 17 year-old.
Training with the first team is also an opportunity for the youngster to work with Andrzej Dawidziuk. The goalkeeper knows the coach back from the days when he used to school boys in Lech Poznań Academy. “I’ve gotten to know coach Dawidziuk when I was a junior, thus I am familiar with and used to his training methods. He’s put a lot of trust in me and let me develop further alongside the senior players, for which I am immensely grateful,” highlighted the goalkeeper.
