Even though Mikael Ishak regularly finds the back of the net in Europa League, the striker had to wait a while before scoring his fifth Ekstraklasa goal. After a 71-day break, Ishak’s surname was once again displayed on the goalscorers’ list. The Swede’s successful attempt was a crucial goal in the recent clash with Raków Częstochowa (3:3).
Ishak is trying to make the most of the time he spends on the pitch. He causes problems to the opponents’ defensive lines regularly but also moves into defence whenever his teammates need him to. The 27-year-old has had a very successful beginning of his debut season for Lech. He has already broken a few records and there are a couple more which aren’t far from his reach. Even though at first glance, the striker’s performances are continuously impressive, Ishak failed to score in the league for a long while.
Between September 12th when he scored against Śląsk, and his successful attempt from the recent clash with Raków Częstochowa, 71 days have passed. Ishak was forced to wait a while for his fifth league goal, but whenever he got one, it was a crucial one – the Swede’s shot on target, which followed a great cross from Skóraś, helped Lech decrease the loss to Raków to just one goal.
“I am glad that Mika managed to score and that I helped him put an end to a goal drought in the league. His great performances in Ekstraklasa games are key,” explained the midfielder who got an assist in the Sunday match against Raków.
Ishak has also been continuously impressing in Europa League. If we take into consideration all competition, the Swede has 12 goals on his account so far: 5 in the league, 4 in the group phase of the European competition, and 3 in Europa League qualifiers.
