The Georgian midfielder Nika Kvekveskiri will no longer play for Lech Poznań. The contract valid until June 30th, 2025 was terminated by mutual consent.
The experienced midfielder - whose nickname is Kvekve - joined Lech in January 2021 on a free transfer after his contract with the Kazakhstan club FC Tobol ended. Initially, Kvekveskiri signed a 6-month agreement with Lech, with the option of extension for another year. Within a few months, both parties resumed negotiations and signed a new contract valid until June 2023. Then, in October 2022, Kvekve and the club reached another agreement, extending the deal for another 2 years. Now the contract has been terminated upon mutual consent.
Kvekveskiri accumulated 123 matches for Lech Poznań, 91 of which were league performances. He scored 6 goals and assisted his teammates 6 times. In addition, the 32-year-old is the vice-captain for the Georgian national team. He and his colleagues have recently achieved a historic result when they qualified for the European Championship for the first time. The Georgian side ended up being eliminated in the round of 16 by Spain. Kvekve made one appearance during the tournament, but he has a total of 61 caps in his account.
