Lech decided to strengthen their squad with yet another signing. Vasyl Kravets will join the team from Poznań on a one-year loan from CD Leganes. The agreement includes a buyout option.
23-year-old Kravets is a homegrown player of FC Karpaty Lviv. Before transferring to Spanish CD Lugo in 2017, the left-back appeared in 35 games for the Ukrainian club. He moved to the Iberian peninsula on loan and then the Spaniards decided they wanted to keep him around permanently. Kravets wore CD Lugo’s shirt for three seasons.
In January 2019, the Ukrainian joined a La Liga side CD Leganes and a month later he debuted in the top Spanish football division in the clash against Valencia. In total, Kravets appeared on the La Liga pitches 6 times. For the past 6 months, the left-back was competing for his former Spanish club, CD Lugo, and gathered 15 caps in La Liga 2.
“What kind of player am I? It’s best that the coaches I have worked with answer that question. I believe I am very hard working on the pitch. I put a lot of effort into defending and attacking alike. It doesn’t matter if it’s the 20th, 30th or 90th minute, I always give my all,” said the 23-year-old.
Lech’s new left-back also regularly played for Ukrainian youth national teams, however, he is yet to debut for the senior squad. In 2018, Kravets received a call up from coach Andriy Shevchenko for the clashes with Slovakia and Italy but he didn’t get to appear in either of the matches.
“Kravets is meant to strengthen our left flank – he can play as a left-back as well as higher up the wing. He and Tymoteusz Puchacz are compatible in that aspect; the latter has recently played on a more defensive position, however, in the previous season he was also used in the midfield formation. Kravets is very well prepared in terms of fitness, he has an attacking-mindset, a great cross, and perfectly aligns with our style of play,” described the player Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
Kravets arrived in Poznań late of Thursday and quickly managed to settle in. “The stadium is huge and absolutely beautiful. Truly amazing. Meanwhile, the city itself resembles my home, that’s is Lviv; it also has a diverse, rich history hence I have already fallen in love. Poznań is located close to my home city, however, I am sure that it won’t take long for me to feel here just like at home,” emphasised the Ukrainian defender.
