Volodymyr Kostevych is out for 8 weeks. The Ukrainian suffered an injury in the Sunday clash against Pogon Szczecin.
The 24-year-old defensive player torn the ligament in the tibiofibular joint in his left leg. The suffered the injury early in the match against Pogon Szczecin. With the help of the club medics, the footballer returned to the pitch, but a substitution was inevitable. In the 24th minute Kostevych was replaced by the debutant Vernon De Marco.
The Ukrainian underwent thorough medical tests after returning to Poznan. The resonance proved the initial diagnosis. On Tuesday the player had a couple of additional tests and a surgery was ruled out. “The recovery plan is preservative and it will last about 8 weeks. If there is a chance to make it shorter, we will surely do so,” explained prof. Krzysztof Pawlaczyk, chief of medical staff at Lech Poznan.
So far this season Kostevych played in 14 matches. In total, he spent 1195 minutes on the pitch – the longest out of all players in Lech’s squad.
