Elvis Kokalovic has reached an agreement with Lech Poznan. On Tuesday the 28-year-old signed a contract with the club from Poznan. The deal will last until June, with the option of extension for another 3 years.
The Croatian footballer grew up at a club called Slavenu Belupo, but for the past 4 years he’s been playing for a Turkish team, Karabukspor, where he competed in 40 matches and scored twice. In the past, Kokalovic also played for Konyaspor and wore the national team’s shirt in the Croatian youth teams.
“I am happy to have signed a contract with Lech. I know that the expectations here are high. I hope to fight with Lech for trophies. I know the team is aiming at the Polish Championship, as well as the Polish Cup. I believe the team can win trophies this season and succeed in the upcoming year as well,” said Kokalovic.
The footballer joined Lech to strengthen the defensive line. “One of his assets is the ability to play the ball calmly even under high pressure. He is tactically intelligent and he is skilled at joining the team’s counterattacks. In addition, Kokalovic has experience when it comes to facing high-level rivals. Back in Turkey, the footballer played against Fenerbahce and Galatasaray,” explained Piotr Rutkowski, Lech’s vice-chairman.
Kokalovic is the third player to join Lech in the winter transfer window, following Mihai Radut and Volodymyr Kostevych. “Our goal was to strengthen the centre of the defensive line. Kokalovic is probably our last winter transfer, but until the window is still open, we cannot confirm anything definitely,” emphasised the vice-chairman.
The footballer will meet his teammates on Tuesday. That’s when Kokalovic will join his first training session at Lech.
