Oleksiy Khoblenko joined Lech Poznan on a 6-month loan from Chernomorec Odessa. The agreement includes a buyout clause.
The 23-year-old forward is a homegrown player of Dinamo Kiev. Khoblenko joined Chernomorec Odessa 2 years ago on loan, but the club decided to buy the footballer soon afterward. This season, the striker scored half of his team’s goals. In the 19 matches he played in the Premier Lihi, he scored 8 times.
“Khoblenko is meant to be competing for a spot in the starting XI with Christian. The two players are totally different, but that was the goal. Our newest signing is quick, dynamic and plays direct football. It’s not yet definitive whether he will be a substitute or whether he will win with Christian and be a first-choice player,” explained Piotr Rutkowski, Lech’s vice-chairman.
Khoblenko had been regularly called up by the Ukrainian youth national teams. However, the player hasn’t yet debuted for the senior team. His speed, mentality, as well as movement without the ball are one of his biggest strengths. In addition, the forward is skilled at playing on-side. The 23-year-old is also known for his determination and commitment.
“My first impression has been great. I am very happy to have joined this club. There are many amazing players here and the aim is to win the championship. I am very positive about my future. My goal is to score as many goals as possible whilst competing for Lech,” said Khoblenko himself. “I know that Lech is recognized for the club’s history, but also its brilliant fans. It’s a strong club. I believe I can play a role in Lech’s history-making,” added the forward.
If the club decides to finalize the transfer after a 6-month loan, the player will sign a 3-year agreement with Lech. “It’s a beneficial deal which emphasizes the club’s faith in the player. The Ukrainian club believes that the forward will do well here at Lech. Despite having received numerous other offers, they reached an agreement with us,” highlighted Rutkowski.
Khoblenko is the 3rd player to join Lech this winter. Rogne and Tomasik have signed contracts with Lech during this transfer window too.
