After 3 years, Jesper Karlström is parting ways with Lech Poznań. The experienced midfielder will join the Italian club Udinese Calcio on a permanent transfer.
Karlström joined Lech Poznań in the winter transfer window of 2021 from a Swedish club called Djurgårdens IF. It didn’t take long for the midfielder to become a key figure in Lech’s squad – in the first 6 months, he made 16 match appearances.
Karlström had to wait over a year for his first goal for Lech; he finally managed to find the back of the net against Górnik Łęczna (3:0) in the same season that he and his teammates won the Polish Championship title. The 29-year-old was an important figure in Maciej Skorża’s squad and greatly impacted Lech winning the 8th Championship trophy in the club’s history.
Over the next 12 months, Karlström and his teammates made it to the quarterfinal of the Europa Conference League and it was the Swede’s assist to Artur Sobiech that gave Lech a three-goal lead in the second leg of the clash with Fiorentina.
In addition, the Swedish midfielder was a part of the team council and had the privilege of wearing the captain's armband three times. Karlström made 144 appearances for Lech, scored 4 goals, and assisted his teammates 9 times.
Chief, thank you for representing Lech! We wish you all the best!
