The end of the autumn round wasn’t what Jakub Kamiński would have liked it to be. The young winger had trouble getting back in form following a muscle injury which he suffered at the beginning of November. Fortunately, the 18-year-old is in perfect shape now and, as he says himself, he’s feeling better every day which has positively impacted his performances throughout the training camp in Turkey.
Kamiński was forced to leave the pitch due to a biceps femoris injury just 30 minutes into Lech’s away clash with Legia Warsaw (November 8th). The incident meant he had to pause for two weeks and wasn’t ready to play until the match against Lechia Gdańsk which was scheduled for the end of November. In addition, due to the injury, the 18-year-old couldn’t join his senior national team squad despite being called-up, for the first time, by Jęrzy Brzęczyk for the clash with Ukraine.
After recovering from the injury and rejoining the rest of his teammates, Kamiński still wasn’t in satisfactory form and emphasised that he was displeased with his performances.
“I had a lot of ups and downs throughout the autumn round. The end of last year has definitely been a down – after the injury, I felt that I was underperforming considering my abilities,” explained Kamiński.
Fortunately, it’s all in the past now. The Holiday break did well to the 18-year-old who returned in much better shape and proved his great disposition during the training camp in Turkey. Kamiński played a key role during Lech’s win against Dynamo Moscow in a sparring match – it was following his individual run and a perfectly-timed assist that Filip Szymczak scored the second goal.
“The intense training sessions in Turkey were exactly what I needed. I feel much better physically and I am 100% healthy again which I believe I demonstrated well during the friendly games. Let’s not forget that we played the sparring matches exhausted from the training marathon. Whenever we recover from the intensity of practice sessions in Turkey, we will perform even better in league games. Therefore, I am very optimistic about the resumption of PKO Ekstraklasa and I am hoping that both myself and the whole team are going to perform extraordinarily,” added the winger.
