The Saturday league clash between Lech Poznań and Stal Mielec (1:2) was Jakub Kamiński’s 50th Ekstraklasa appearance.
The 18-year-old joined Lech’s senior squad in January 2019 during the winter training camp in Belek, Turkey. Although the youngster has previously been listed in the match 18 for the clash with Wisła Cracow in December 2018, he hadn’t debuted for Lech’s A team. Following the return from Turkey, the winger participated in a few training sessions, but it wasn’t until the end of the 2018/2019 season that he permanently joined his senior teammates.
Kamiński had to wait for his debut until September 20th, 2019 when he appeared on the pitch in the home clash with Jagiellonia Białystok (1:1). He played his first match for the senior team at the age of 17 years and 107 days. “I was shocked to see my name in the starting line-up. Coach Żuraw waited until the last minute to tell me that I was going to debut. He asked about my disposition, and since I felt great and have been performing well for the reserves team, I emphasised my readiness. I am grateful to him for the chance he gave me,” highlighted the youngster after his debut.
So far, Kamiński scored 5 goals on the Polish top-division pitches – against Zagłębie Lubin (3:3), Pogoń Szczecin (4:0), Legia Warsaw (2:1), Jagiellonia (4:0), and Wisła Płock (2:2).
