Darko Jevtic played over 60 minutes in the second leg of the semifinals against Blekitni Stargard Szczecinski. It was the first game 22 year-old midfielder played in since he injured his back two months ago.
In the first match of the spring round the Swiss player injured his backbone and since then he has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation. About three weeks ago the footballer flew to Serbia where he had additional consultations. After his return Jevtic underwent a short procedure in the Rehasport clinic and went back to training.
This week Jevtic has been training with the rest of the team, and therefore he could be considered by the training staff when choosing the squad for the Polish Cup game. The Swiss midfielder appeared on the pitch in the 55th minute as a substitute for the injured Pawlowski.
"Before the match together with the coach we have planned that I will play 20 minutes top. However, because of Szymon's injury I had to be sent in earlier. Moreover, there was an extra time added and overall I spent more than an hour on the pitch," explained Darko.
The homegrown player of FC Basel did not hide his excitement after the won match. "I am happy that I could play in front of the fans again after such a long break. Although I am not in the game rhythm yet, I believe that with time it will only be better," said Jevtic.
The midfielder is hoping to play some more minutes in the upcoming league game when Lech will face Korona Kielce at home. "I feel fine, I don't feel any pain. If the medical staff gives a green light for me to play, I hope that the coach will give me a chance," added the player.
