Rafal Janicki signed a contract with Lech Poznan. The defender joined Lech on a two-year long loan from Lechia Gdansk. A buyout clause is included in the contract.
“I hope to develop as a player here, in Lech Poznan. I also want to help the team compete for different trophies. Of course, European cups are a big encouragement to join Lech. I feel a little stressed, but it’s a positive kind of stress because this is another important challenge in my career,” said the new transfer.
The 25-year-old played in 176 matches for Lechia Gdansk. He also competed for the youth national teams. In the 14 caps he already has on his account, he scored one goal. In November 2014 Janicki was called up to the senior National Team for the match against Georgia (Euro 2016 qualifications) and Switzerland (friendly).
“Rafal is an experienced defender considering his age. He played over 170 matches in Ekstraklasa and knows the league very well. He performed well in Lechia – a strong Polish club – which ensures us that he’ll do no worse in Lech,” said Piotr Rutkowski, Lech’s vice-chairman. “It’s important that he is a Pole. His task here is to fight for trophies and win them together with his teammates. We know he’s missing the thrill of titles and at this club he will have the chance to experience it again,” added the vice-chairman.
Janicki joined Lech for a two-year long loan, however, the contract includes a buyout clause.
