The opening minutes didn’t provide Lech’s fans with much optimism. The team from Poznań struggled to come close to Jagiellonia’s box whilst their rival occasionally counterattacked and caused problems to Lech’s defenders. In the 24th minute, Arsenić who was positioned in Lech’s penalty area, received a precise from one of his teammates but failed to beat van der Hart. In the 41st minute, Tiru was more efficient than his colleague and had no problems placing the ball in the net and giving Jagiellonia a one-goal advantage.
Lech was determined to turn tables before halftime. In the 44th minute, Puchacz fired a strong shot at the goal from outside the box which, although on target, stopped on the post. The team from Poznań continue attacking after halftime. In the 47th minute, a great team effort helped Jóźwiak find the back of the net, but VAR ruled the goal as incorrect. 2 minutes later the referee was forced to watch replies once again. Puchacz fell in Jagiellonia’s box and even though the referee initially called it a penalty kick, he changed his mind following consultation with VAR.
In the 59th minute, Moder appeared on the pitch in place of Karlo Muhar. It took Lech’s homegrown player 2 minutes to score, yet again from outside the box. Jagiellonia’s goalkeeper was absolutely helpless in the clash with the 21-year-old. Following the equalizer, Lech took control of the match. In the 78th minute, the team from Poznań had a good goal-scoring opportunity when Kamiński raced down the right flank and set the ball on silver plate for Gytkjaer, however, the latter’s shot from about 3 meters was off target. 2 minutes later the Dane had another chance to score but he was equally imprecise.
Tiba also had a match ball when he received a great pass from Ramirez, however, the Portuguese also failed to get a winner for Lech, hence the two teams had to share points.
