Jagiellonia – Lech 2:1

The first league match after the international break wasn’t a successful one for Lech. The team from Poznań was beaten 1:2 by Jagiellonia Białystok in an away game.

Jagiellonia’s home ground hasn’t been Lech’s favourite venue to play at for a while now. Last time the squad from Poznań managed to beat the hosts in Białystok was back in 2013. Lech is going to have to wait at least a few more months before they put an end to this unfortunate series since it was Jagiellonia that triumphed in the Saturday league clash.

Lech got a rough wake-up call when Jagiellonia scored in the 2nd minute. Taras Romanczuk converted a cross from the corner kick into an opener. A few minutes later, the team from Poznań found a way to place the ball in the back of the net but Jakub Kamiński was slightly offside and the referee disallowed the goal following consultation with VAR.

Lech’s offside trap wasn’t as effective and in the second half Maciej Makuszewski managed to trick the defenders from Poznań and change the score to 2:0. Lech did get a chance to catch up to their rival in the 82nd minute when the referee awarded the team with a penalty kick. Jakub Moder didn’t waste the opportunity and converted the set piece into a goal. However, Lech failed to beat Jagiellonia’s defensive line again and the hosts collected all three league points.
