On June 14th, Lech’s squad is going to reunite after the holidays to begin the pre-season. Until then, the players have time off, however, they have been given individual training plans that they need to complete during their vacation. Today Lech’s squad began the individual practices.
The team from Poznań went on holidays shortly after the last league game of the season - the clash with Górnik Zabrze (1:1). The players were told to focus on rest and recovery during the first two weeks. “We left it up to the players. However, there are footballers who prefer to work out and stay active, hence we prepared individual training plans for those players. Now that the two weeks have passed, the whole team will have practices scheduled as a ‘warm up’ ahead of the pre-season kick-off. On Monday we begin the individual training sessions. Every player has a precise number which they need to hit and exercises to complete – it is going to help them get back into the normal rhythm when the pre-season begins on June 14th,” said Karol Kikut who is in charge of the squad fitness.
During the upcoming week, players will train every other day, and then they will return to normal, daily training sessions.
“The objective is to get the players to gradually adjust to more intensity. During their holidays, they had two weeks of rest, and the next 14 days are going to be all about the meticulous training plan that we have prepared,” explained Kikut.
Of course, there are exceptions as the coaches attempt to adjust the intensity of the training sessions to the players. “Mikael Ishak is a perfect example – at the end of last season, he struggled with an injury, therefore, his training plan is different than that of the rest of the team. We put focus on exercises that will get him fit and ready to join the rest of the squad on June 14th,” added Lech’s coach.
