Darko Jevtic will stay in Lech Poznan till the season 2017/2018. Despite the possibility of the Swiss footballer returning to his home club, the homegrown player of FC Basel signed a 3,5-year contract with Lech!
Jevtic joined Lech on a year-long loan in July, however his team withheld the right to bring him back to Basel after the autumn round of 2014/2015. The Swiss player accepted Lech's offer and as both clubs agreed on the terms of the transfer, Jevtic is now the player of Kolejorz.
"I won't deny that we've been worried about Darko's future in Poznan. He has made a huge impression on us in the autumn round and our aim was to make him stay. We have reached an agreement with FC Basel and now we can be calm. It's the right thing to stay that what seemed impossible in October or November has become possible and it is a big success," said Piotr Rutkowski, Lech's vice-chairman.
Jevtic appeared in 24 games during the autumn round and in 16 of them he stayed in the pitch for the full time. The Swiss player scored 4 goals and assisted twice. At the end of the round Jevtic played a key role. Maciej Skorza emphasized multiple times that he would like to keep the player in his squad.
"It's a lot of fun to train this player. With each round he will be an even bigger pleasure to watch for the fans," said the coach in December.
Preparing a contract for Jevtic was one of Lech's main goals for this transfer window. "Of course, it doesn't mean we aren't in the middle of negotiations with other players. Finalizing other talks is dependent on multiple factors. A few days ago we had to resign from signing a contract with a player because he got injured and he won't recover until spring. We'll keep on acting," said Rutkowski.
