Lech is now awaiting an important phase of the season. After beating Korona Kielce, the team from Poznan will have to face teams ranked in the top of Ekstraklasa, as well as the current leader of the second division. However, Lech’s players are very optimistic about the upcoming matches.
Pogon Szczecin, Rakow Czestochowa, Lechia Gdansk, and Jagiellonia Bialystok – these are the teams Lech is going to face before the next international break. “I believe we are entering a crucial phase of the season, despite the fact that’s it’s only October. There are a couple of important games ahead of us, all of which have a lot at stake. We need to be incredibly focused in order to get through the next month,” explained Dimitris Goutas, Lech’s defender.
Lukasz Tralka agrees with the Greek centre-back. The experienced midfielder hasn’t been training with the rest of the team during the first week of international break, but upon his return, he noticed a change in the squad’s attitude which, in his opinion, might have a big impact on the rest of the season. “When I returned to training during the second week, I have immediately noticed that the team is in a great shape and they are visibly improving. The greatest progress regards the team’s mentality; the boys are determined to win and they showed that in the match against Korona,” highlighted Tralka.
Looking at the recent scores, it might seem that Lech found a way to end the unfortunate run of poor performances from August and September. First, Djurdjevic’s players triumphed in the Polish Cup clash with LKS Lodz, and then they got a league draw against Gornik Zabrze and won twice - against Miedz and Korona.
“We must win against everyone we face, no matter if they are ranked in the top or the bottom of the table. We are the ones who should be occupying the leader’s rank. I believe that the bad period is behind us and with every next game, we will play better,” emphasized Vernon de Marco.
