The defender arrived in Greater Poland on Monday afternoon and underwent medical tests the following day. Since there were no obstacles, Hoffmann and the club finalized the agreement and signed a 3-year contract, valid until June 2027, with an option of extension for another 12 months.

“Ian is a defender who can play on the left and the right flank. He reinforces the internal rivalry on both wings. He feels comfortable in the offence and has good dribbling skills, offensive entrance, and shot – hence his statistics in his previous clubs. He is also a player that plays tough and aggressively in the defence. We are counting on his smooth adaptation to the team,” said Tomasz Rząsa, Lech’s Sporting Director.

Ian Hoffmann is joining Lech on a permanent transfer from the vice-leader of the Norwegian top division, Moss FK. He made 44 appearances for the Norwegian side, scored 4 goals, and got 8 assists. Although Lech’s newest signing was born in the United States, he started his career in Germany – he played in FC Köln’s and Karlsruhe’s youth teams. Next, he returned to his homeland and competed in six games for the MLS side Houston Dynamo FC.

In March 2023, Hoffmann returned to Europe and has spent the last year and a half in Norway, he will now move to Poznań. Interestingly, Ian will be the fourth American to wear Lech’s shirt.

“The club has done a great job; they have sent me a presentation and explained how beautiful of a club it is. I’ve done my research and I knew about it already, but now seeing the stadium and seeing the city in general, it’s been amazing. I’m so impressed by everything here and I cannot wait to get started. I saw videos of the fans and they’re amazing. I hope they continue to support us, which I know they will,” emphasized Hoffmann.

The 22-year-old will wear number 20.
