The two-goal win in the first leg had an undoubtful influence on the opening minutes of the match. Lech tried to remain in possession of the ball for as long as possible but they struggled due to simple errors and nervous play in the defense. However, Putnocky was focused and intervened successfully a number of times. For instance, in the 11th minute, Harutyunyan fired a strong and precise shot at Lech’s goal but the keeper stopped the ball in time.
The team from Poznan struggled to build scoring chances despite being in possession of the ball for a majority of the time. In the 24th minute, Lech had the first goal-scoring opportunity when they were given a free kick, but Tiba’s attempt was successfully stopped by the Armenian goalkeeper. A moment later, Makuszewski had a perfect chance to change the score when he received a precise cross from De Marco but the winger failed to control the ball.
Just when the first half was about to end, the hosts attacked once more. Alex Junior beat Cywka in a direct clash and sent a pass to Musond who was positioned just outside the box but the latter mishit the ball and sent it flying above the crossbar. Shortly afterward, Harutyunyan converted a free kick into a precise shot that Putnocky managed to save successfully.
The Armenians had nothing to lose so they attacked early in the second half. 5 minutes into the second part of the match, Gandzasar scored. Sverchinski sent a cross into the box, Harutyunyan redirected it towards Musond with his chest, and the latter beat Putnocky with a strong shot. A moment later, Harutyunyan came close to scoring but this time his attempt was slightly off target.
Radut and Jevtic were sent on the pitch in hope they could save Lech from conceding another goal. In the 63rd minute, Tralka attempted to surprise the keeper with a shot from outside the box but he failed. 3 minutes later Gandzasar had a two-goal lead after Harutyunyan beat Putnocky with a free kick attempt.
Lech was forced to attack but Tomasik wasted a couple of decent scoring chances. First, his header was blocked by one of the defenders, then his next shot stopped on the post. In the 89th minute, his teammate Gytkjaer came close to scoring but the Dane lost a one-on-one clash with the keeper.
