In the first training match of the preseason, Lech lost 1:2 against Widzew Łódź. Norbert Pacławski scored the only goal for the Poznań team.
On Saturday morning, Lech welcomed the Ekstraklasa newcomers at Bułgarska street for a friendly match. The starting line-up of the hosts included a new face – the club's most recent transfer, that is goalkeeper Artur Rudko. Moreover, Jan Sykora appeared on the pitch for the first time since his loan to Viktoria Plzen where he celebrated the national championship title.
The match didn’t start according to Lech’s plan since the hosts conceded a goal as early as the 9th minute. Widzew led an offensive attempt down the right flank, Ernest Terpiłowski passed Lech’s defensive line and sent the ball to Karol Danielak whose shot from an acute angle hit the back of the net.
Lech tried equalizing quickly and the Iberian due Ramirez-Amaral came close to finding the net. The Spaniard sent a well-timed pass to his Portuguese teammate but the latter’s shot was just slightly off target. In the following minutes, both Ishak and Sykora tried beating Widzew’s keeper, but they lacked precision in their attempts. Radosław Murawski’s shot from outside the box was on target but this time, the ball was stopped by the goalkeeper.
All 11 players from Lech’s starting line-up were substituted at halftime. The hosts looked fresh and energized which quickly resulted in an equalizer – in the 51st minute, Adriel Ba Loua set up Norbert Pacławski with a great pass and the youngster changed the score to 1:1.
The midfielder from Ivory Coast was playing impressively and not only did he get an assist, but he won a free kick. Barry Douglas came very close to converting the set piece into a second goal – and an equalizer, since Widzew once again successfully found the back of the net, this time following a corner kick, just a few minutes earlier.
Lech tried changing the score once more, but they failed to do that, despite numerous attempts. Pacławski came close to being the hero of the match for the second time, but unfortunately, his shot was blocked by one of Widzew’s defenders.
Lech’s next friendly match is scheduled for June 23rd – that’s when the Poznań team will face Pogoń Szczecin in Opalenica.
