We now know the schedule of Lech’s sparring matches planned for the winter training camp. Bjelica’s team will face five different rivals as a part of the preparations for the second part of the season.
The first sparring match is scheduled for the first week of the training camp. Before the team leaves for Belek, Turkey, they will play against Polonia Sroda Wielkopolska (Sunday, January 14th). The opponent is competing in the third league where Lech’s reserves are also playing. Polonia is currently ranked 8th in their league, 10 points behind the leader.
The next three sparring matches will be played in Turkey. On January 19th, Lech will face Ukrainian Zoria Lugansk who are 4th in the local Premier League. The rival also competed in Europa League group phase in autumn and was ranked 3rd, surpassing Hertha Berlin.
The team from Poznan will also play against a Bulgarian rival on January 23rd. FC Etar was established in 2013 and is currently playing in the first Bulgarian league where they occupy the 12th place.
The last sparring match in Turkey will be a clash with Hajduk Split – last season’s third best team in the Croatian top tier. Hajduk currently sit 2nd, 12 points behind Dinamo Zagreb. The Croatian rival played in Europa League qualifiers in autumn but was eliminated by Everton.
The last friendly game will be played in Poznan on February 4th, following the team’s return to Poznan. A week before Lech’s league clash with Arka Gdynia, the squad will face GKS Tychy – a first-league rival, currently occupying the 14th rank.
