Emir Dilaver, an Austrian right-back, signed a 4-year deal with Lech Poznan. The 26-year-old joined the team from Poznan from Ferencvaros with which he won a national trophy on Wednesday. Dilaver’s contract with the Hungarian club has recently expired.
Dilaver's youth career is directly linked to Austria Vienna. The right-back debuted for the Austrian club in 2010. Whilst representing Vienna, Dilaver won the Championship, as well as played in Champions League group phase. Back then the Austrian team was led by Lech’s current coach, Nenad Bjelica.
“Emir got our attention mainly thanks to his unparalleled will to win. He has the character and the mentality of a fighter and his aim is to win every single match. The teams he competed for in the past won multiple trophies. Despite his young age, Dilaver had numerous appearances on his account, both on the national arena and in European competition, which is a great advantage,” explained Piotr Rutkowski, Lech’s vice-chairman.
For the past 3 season Dilaver represented Ferencvaros. During his time at the Hungarian club, the right-back played in 116 matches, scored 2 goals and added 13 assists to his account. In addition, together with his teammates, Dilaver won the Championship and recently, on May 31st, he also won the Hungarian Cup for the 3rd time.
“No matter what club I play for, I want to win national trophies. I have won a couple of them throughout my career, including three Hungarian Cups, as well as Austrian and Hungarian Championships. I came to Poznan with the same intention: to win,” said the new transfer.
The footballer is Lech’s first summer transfer. Dilaver will meet his new teammates shortly after the holiday period. “I am glad to be here because the move to Poznan is another step in my career. I saw Lech’s clash with Lechia from the stands and it was an amazing experience. The support of the fans and the atmosphere made a huge impression on me, therefore, I am really happy to have signed a contract with Lech,” explained the right-back.
