Two players are saying goodbye to Lech Poznań this summer. Artur Sobiech and Barry Douglas will part ways with the club when their contracts finish - that is, on June 30th.
“We would like to thank both players for competing in the blue-and-white shirts and for their commitment. Barry’s story with Lech lasted over 10 years in total, with a few years-long break in the middle. He won two Polish Championship titles with us and competed in European competitions. Meanwhile, Artur helped us win the league two years ago and we also remember his goal in the quarterfinals of the Europa Conference League in Florence. We wish them both lots of luck,” emphasized Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa. “Of course, it’s not the end of the changes in the squad. We will keep everyone up-to-date with the progress.”
Barry Douglas arrived in Poznań in the summer of 2013. Throughout the following 2,5 years, the defender won the Polish Championship title (2015) and the Super Cup (2015) before joining the Turkish league. Prior to the season 2021/2022, Douglas returned to Greater Poland and celebrated another title with Lech. He also helped the team reach the quarterfinals of the Europa Conference League. The Scottish player made 139 appearances for Lech (104 in PKO BP Ekstraklasa). Douglas scored a total of 9 goals, his most memorable being the one against Legia Warsaw (2:1) in the season 2014/2015.
Artur Sobiech joined Lech’s squad in the summer of 2021. Similarly to Douglas, the striker was a part of the team that won the Polish Championship title in 2022 and reached the quarterfinals of the European competition. The Pole appeared on the pitch in Lech’s shirt 54 times (38 league games) and scored 5 goals.
