Lech Poznań has a new goalkeeper – Dominik Holec. The Slovakian player joined Lech on 6-month loan from Sparta Prague. The agreement also includes an option to extend the contract.
Holec is 28 years old. He was born in České Budějovice but he is Slovak and he started his adventure with football at MŠK Žilina. He also made his official debut in the Slovakian top division at the same club, however, before he did that, he spent some time on loans at various clubs. Holec spent two full seasons at MŠK Žilina – 2018/19 and 2019/20 – before moving to Sparta Prague. He is even familiar with the Polish PKO BP Ekstraklasa since he spent the spring of 2021 at Raków Częstochowa. The goalkeeper appeared in a total of 16 league matches at Raków and 3 Polish Cup games; he also went on to win the Polish Cup trophy together with the side from Częstochowa. Now he has joined Lech Poznań on loan from Sparta Prague. Holec arrived in Poznań on Monday and successfully passed all the medical tests at Rehasport Clinic before signing the contract.
“We signed a 6-month agreement with Dominik Holec with the option to extend the deal for another 2 years. He is a good, experienced goalkeeper who represents Slovakia, and knows the Polish league as well as our language. Therefore, we are hoping that his adaptation process is going to be very quick and will positively influence the internal rivalry within the squad during the spring round,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
Indeed, communication will not be an issue since Holec speaks Polish very well. He also knows one of Lech’s players, Lubomir Šatka.
“Back when I was at Raków, I learned Polish. It’s an advantage for me, and on top of that, I also know Lubo. Both these things will help me at the beginning when I join Lech and move to Poznań. I would like to achieve plenty of successes at Lech,” emphasized the goalkeeper. “It’s a good transfer for me personally because I am joining a great club. It is, after all, the current Polish Champion. I am happy and proud to join the team. I hope to achieve here even more than at Raków.”
Holec chose number 77 for his Lech Poznań match kit. After signing the contract on Tuesday, Holec went back to Prague but he will return soon as he is to fly with the rest of the squad to Dubai on Wednesday. “Everything is happening fast, there is no time, and it’s a good thing,” laughed Dominik “At big clubs, there is always intense rivalry, and Lech will be no different. I want to help the team and play as much as possible. My goal is to show my best during the winter training camp,” summarized Holec.
