One of the highlights of the Friday clash between Lech Poznań and Śląsk Wrocław was Darko Jevtić’s return. The Swiss player joined the starting line-up for the first time since the Europa League qualifier against FK Haugesund (2:0).
In the clash with the Norwegians, Jevtić was one of the best players on the pitch. He scored a brilliant goal from a free kick, but a few minutes later he had to be replaced because on an injury. On Friday, after 64 days of absence, Jevtić returned to the starting line-up once again.
“There are no signs of injury anymore. I am glad that I managed to compete for 80 minutes on Friday, but there is still a lot that needs improvement. It applies to me personally, as well as the whole team, and that’s what we focus on now,” explained the Swiss midfielder.
On Friday night Jevtić played on the left flank – a position he appeared on a few times last season. “I play wherever the coach wants me to play. I am familiar with the left wing and last season I performed well whenever the coach decided to position me there. However, I feel the best in the midfield. Of course, the team goes first and that’s what really matters to me,” said Darko.
Jevtić’s return did not only rejoice the fans, who emphasise his key role, but also the players themselves. “There is no doubt that Jevtić is an important footballer to us. I am sure he will be helpful in every single game. With every next match he will perform better. Of course, it takes time to get back into shape after an injury, but Darko has been training hard during the week and he’s shown that he is ready to play,” explained Maciej Makuszewski.
Nicklas Barkroth agreed with his teammate. The Swede said he’s sure that Jevtić will get back in form soon, but what counts the most is that he’s recovered from the injury. “The most important thing is that Darko is 100% healthy again. He’s a great player and everyone is glad to have him back,” added the Swedish footballer.
