In the league game against Miedz Legnica, Djurdjevic decided for a formation with two strikers – Joao Amaral and Christian Gytkjaer. The cooperation between the forwards had a significant impact on the final score since the two players got a goal and an assist each.
Gytkjaer and Amaral displayed great teamwork in the Polish Cup match against LKS Lodz when the two footballers played crucial roles in the offensive action that resulted in a winner. In the league clash with Miedz Legnica, the forwards caused significant problems to the rival’s defensive line. First, in the 11th minute, Gytkjaer scored an opener following a great pass from Amaral, while in the 51st minute, the Portuguese put the ball in the back of the net with the help from Dane.
The two strikers have different strengths which enable them to complete each other. “Joao is a great player. I am glad that I got the chance to repay him for his assist. We cooperated very well during the Sunday game,” explained Gytkjaer who has scored 9 goals this season so far. “Amaral is a quick and creative footballer who spots goal-scoring opportunities with ease. I have no doubt about the potential of our cooperation,” emphasized Dane.
During the recent league match, the former Benfica player was positioned as a second striker as opposed to his usual role as a winger. “I like playing as a second forward because it means I have more opportunities to act as a playmaker and enter empty spaces on the pitch created by Christian. Also, this formation means that I have more room to send passes and it’s important to me,” explained Amaral. “I am happy with our goals and assists because they are valuable for the team and, of course, the most important thing is that we win. We have a good relationship with Christian not only on the pitch but also off it. Our understanding is important for us both and for the whole team,” added the Portuguese.
