After a meticulous analysis of the team and the progress of the preparations for the upcoming matches, Lech's management board decided to change the coach of the first team. Jan Urban will replace Maciej Skorza immediately and he will already lead the team in the game with Ruch.
"Since the beginning of the previous week we have been analyzing the team's current situation very carefully. We believe that what the team needs the most right now is freshness - something that only a new coach can bring among the players. A new trainer may be able to reach our footballers, rebuild their morals and mobilize them to fight their way out of the relegation zone," explained Lech's chairman, Karol Klimczak. "The team needs to unblock its sporting potential, since no one doubts that the Polish Champions have it in them."
"Jan Urban will replace Maciej Skorza. The trainer is not only known for all the trophies he has already won, but also for being a footballer and a representative of the Polish National Team and for being able to build a solid relationship with his players. We hope that under his lead the team will put an end to the crisis and will begin its march up the league table," commented Klimczak.
We say goodbye to Maciej Skorza with respect. We want to express our gratitude for commitment and professionalism that he's been presenting since day one at Bulgarska Street. He will forever remain in Lech's history having lead the team to the Polish Championship and to the Super Cup.
Coach Urban is going to begin his work at INEA Stadium on Monday. A press conference is planned for 3 pm, while 2 hours later he is going to participate in his first training session.
