Bartosz Mrozek is one of Lech’s homegrown players who are currently away on loan. For the young goalkeeper, this season has been a successful one so far – not only has he been performing well, but his team is also ranked right behind the leaders of the second division.
In the previous campaign, Bartosz Mrozek has also been sent on loan to another club, Elana Toruń. He joined the side from Pomeranian voivodship in July 2018. That transfer was a big step in his career; until then, the goalkeeper had played for Lech’s reserves which were competing in the fourth tier. In Toruń, Mrozek managed to get 13 appearances which wasn’t a satisfactory achievement for Lech’s homegrown player. This season, he has already spent 2000 minutes on the pitch (22 games) which is what the player is aiming for. Similarly, GKS is ranked high in the second division and is considered to be the favourite in the race for Ekstraklasa promotion, which makes the current season even better for the keeper.
“Elana gave me a chance to play at a higher level than I had before which provided me with an opportunity to gain crucial experience. Some will mention that I have previously played for Lech’s reserves as the main goalkeeper, but it’s not the same because my role was different. I joined GKS with more experience on my account and it seemed that they had a clear plan for me from the very beginning. I wanted to play as much as possible and nothing else mattered,” emphasised the 20-year-old goalkeeper who joined Lech’s Academy in 2014.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this spring Mrozek has only appeared in two matches – against Błękitni Stargard and Olimpia Elbląg. However, the goalkeeper says he is far from bored. “The club gave us individual training plans which we are supposed to stick to as much as possible. Apart from that, I finally have the time to analyse matches. I also spend time with my girlfriend – we watch movies and occasionally go for a walk,” explained Mrozek.
The goalkeeper hasn’t worn Lech’s shirt for over 1.5 years, but he nonetheless follows the scores closely and watches matches whenever possible. “I am passionate about football hence it’s natural for me to watch Lech’s games,” highlighted Mrozek. The youngster also spoke about his personal objectives for the nearest future. “I know my worth and how hard I work, and I believe that I would do well in Ekstraklasa,” said the 20-year-old.
