“Bryan has the right speed and dynamics and a great drive towards the goal. He always wants to attack the opponent’s penalty area. He puts pressure on the rival’s defenders when he’s attacking – which we saw in the match against Górnik,” this is how coach Niels Frederiksen described Lech’s latest signing. On Sunday, the Norwegian striker debuted for Lech in the club’s first league game of the season. He came in as a late substitute for Mikael Ishak.
The offensive player joined Lech’s squad in the second week of July. Since then, he has been preparing with his new teammates for the league kick-off, against Górnik Zabrze, which took place last Sunday. Niels Frederiksen began the 2024/2025 season with a win – Mikael Ishak and Dino Hotić helped Lech triumph 2:0. The debutant Bryan Fiabema also played an important role in the win – when Lech was still up by just one goal, the striker did his best to stay in possession of the ball on the opponent’s half of the pitch, therefore stopping Górnik from possibly equalizing. He also actively stopped the rival’s defender from quick playmaking.
“It was a good entrance. He did his best to make the most of his time on the pitch. Bryan needs a bit more time to make a longer appearance, but after consulting the medical staff prior to the match, we knew he could play 30 minutes. We needed to delay the decision to send him in because, in the last 20 minutes of the match, we had just one break left to make a change. However, he came in with a freshness and did a good job,” explained the Dutch coach.
With every next game, Fiabema should be ready to spend more and more time on the pitch. We already know that the 21-year-old signing will provide the coaching staff with new options regarding the offensive formation. Considering the striker’s versatility, he will most likely have plenty of opportunities to play. “Of course, he can play as a striker or be positioned behind the no. 9. He gives us additional options because he can also compete on the wing. Bryan has the right speed and dynamics and a great drive towards the goal. He always wants to attack the opponent’s penalty area. He puts pressure on the rival’s defenders when he’s attacking – which we saw in the match against Górnik,” highlighted Niels Frederiksen.
