Two new coaches have joined Lech’s training staff – Antonin Čepek, who will be in charge of fitness training, and Maciej Palczewski, the new goalkeeper coach.
“Throughout my coaching career, I have learned that I cannot do it all by myself. I have come to realise that I am only as good as my coaching staff. Having the right people around you is key in modern football, hence I wanted to ensure that my coaching staff was composed of the best professionals and I am happy that we managed to achieve that,” explained Maciej Skorża, Lech’s coach.
“I would like to welcome two new coaches who have joined our training staff. When it comes to fitness, we have decided to take a different path and implement changes. Therefore, we appointed a foreign coach to be in charge of fitness training; he will work closely with Karol Kikut. Meanwhile, Maciej Palczewski will replace Michał Chamera as the goalkeeper coach. He is a young coach but experienced – he spent the last few years working for Cracovia,” highlighted Lech’s sporting director, Tomasz Rząsa.
Čepek is a 36-year-old coach who studied at Charles University in Prague. Back as a student, he already worked for the youth team of local club Slavia, and then went on to gain experience at FK Jablonec before returning to the team from Prague and joining the senior team coaching staff. His resume also features clubs such as Dukla and FK Teplice, as well as U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-20 Czech national teams. Moreover, Čepek gained invaluable professional experience as an intern at top international clubs, among them Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Villareal and RB Leipzig.
Palczewski is three years older than his new work colleague and he’s known for playing as a goalkeeper for, inter alia, Wisła, Cracovia, and Arka Gdynia. He graduated from Physical Education Academy in Cracow and in Gdańsk, and then went on to become a coach. He used to work with youth goalkeepers at Cracovia and then in 2015, he was appointed as the first-team goalkeeper coach by Jacek Zieliński and worked with the senior team from Cracow for the following 6 years.
On Monday, June 14th Lech players will begin the pre-season and start the preparations for the upcoming 2021/22 campaign.
