Lech Poznan will face Gandzasar Kapan from Armenia in the first qualifying round of Europa League. Ivan Djurdjevic’s team will play the first leg at home.
The squad led by Aszot Barseghian finished 3rd in the local Premier League last season. Alashkert won the championship with 7 points more than Lech’s rival. However, Gandzasar won the Armenian Cup after beating the league champions in penalty shootout.
The first leg of the first qualifying round will take place on July 12th, in Poznan. The second leg will be played a week later.
Meanwhile, in the second qualifying round of Europa League, Lech can expect either Connah’s Quay Nomands FC (Wales) or Shakhtjor Soligorsk (Belorussia). The winner of the clash Lech vs Gandzasar will play the first leg of the second round on the rival’s home ground.
Connah’s Quay Nomands FC won Welsh Cup this past season. In addition, Morrison’s team was ranked 3rd in the league. The club from Wales finished the season 17 points behind The New Saints who won the title.
Connah’s Quay Nomands FC will face Shakhtjor Soligorsk from Belorussia in the first qualifying round of Europa League. The Eastern European squad finished only 3 points behind the 2017 national champions, BATE Borisov. Currently, the club is ranked 4th in the league after 12 matches.
The second qualifying round games are scheduled for July 26th and August 2nd.
