The Sunday clash with Korona Kielce was the last match on INEA Stadium for Paulus Arajuuri. “I am joyful that my last game in Poznan ended with a win,” said the defender.
Before the match began, the fans already knew that if Paulus Arajuuri was a part of the starting lineup, it would be his last game on INEA Stadium. Therefore, it was a perfect opportunity to say one last goodbye and thank the player for all the past years he has been a part of Lech’s defensive line. After the warm-up, Paulus was given a picture of himself framed as a souvenir from Lech’s Vice-Chairman, Piotr Rutkowski.
In the match with Korona Arajuuri saw the fourth yellow card this season and he will therefore pause in the next week’s clash with Cracovia. “I am very happy that we won with Korona. It was an exciting game with a lot of scoring chances. I am proud of the team,” explained the footballer. “The atmosphere on INEA Stadium was remarkable and it made me recall all the great moments I have experienced in Poznan. I am sad that this adventure is coming to an end, but I want to focus mainly on the positive memories,” told us the defender.
The fans paid tribute to Arajuuri by chanting the defender’s name after the final whistle. The player took his time when saying goodbye to the fans. For over half an hour Paulus signed shirts and took pictures with the fans. “I am incredibly grateful for the support I was given by the fans. It is an ineffable feeling. Thank you for everything,” said the Finnish footballer.
In the clash with Korona the defender had a chance to score his one last goal on INEA Stadium, but he was slightly unlucky. “I wanted to score today and I have a couple of opportunities to do so. However, some of the crosses from my teammates were a bit imprecise. It is a pity that I failed to add a goal to my account, but what matters the most is that we won,” explained Arajuuri.
