“There are no poor teams in the Championship Group and every single one of them has something to fight for. Four clubs are competing for the Championship, therefore, that fight will be intense until the very end of the season,” explained Maciej Makuszewski, Lech’s midfielder.
Lech’s footballers are in a difficult situation, with another league clash slowly approaching. The loss in the Polish Cup final on Tuesday was a blow to the team from Poznan. “We are disappointed with how the things turned out because we really wanted to win. We aren’t in a great mood, but it’s something we have to deal with. Lech is an experienced team and such losses need to strengthen us. There are 6 matches to go and each one of them is a small final in itself. We cannot give up now. We need to show character. If we lose our spirit now and fail to win on Sunday, this season will be wasted. We still have the most important trophy to fight for,” explained the winger.
A week ago Bjelica’s footballers were proven how difficult the fight for the Championship will be. The fight for 3 points in the clash with Korona Kielce last until the final whistle. “Every single game is equally important. We won the first match of the final round despite having a bad day. However, every time we win, we are a step closer to becoming the champions,” explained Makuszewski. “The teams who aren’t in the top 4 have nothing to lose. They are relaxed since they know they will play in Ekstraklasa next season for sure,” added the footballer.
Among those teams there is Termalica Bruk-Bet Nieciecza who lost the recent league game against Lechia 0:2. However, Makuszewski emphasized that Termalica is a demanding rival. They play at home really well. It’s an uncomfortable team to play against. We have to prepare for the worse. Even though we never find it easy to win there, we are optimistic and hope for the best result. I am sure we’ll play a good match,” said Makuszewski.
The footballers believe that the fight for the Championship will last until the very last game and 4 top teams all have a chance to win. “There are a couple of favorites in this race. Among them there is Jagiellonia who was undermined by many in the first phase of the season. The team from Bialystok is doing its job by winning points every match. They are making small steps towards the Championship,” explained Makuszewski. “There are still 6 matches till the end of the season and a lot can happen. I believe we will get back on the right track and our good form will help us do great in the league,” added the winger.
