Since joining Lech Poznan earlier this summer, Emir Dilvar played on a couple of different positions – as a centre-back and as a right-back. “It doesn’t matter to me where I play. It all depends on the tactics for the particular match,” said the Austrian defender.
So far this season Lech Poznan conceded the fewest goals in the league competition. According to Dilaver, it’s thanks to the rotation in the squad. “The key is that we have 4 to 5 footballers that can play as a centre-back and a couple more who can play on either of the flanks. Most of all, the players that I’m talking about are high-quality professional footballers. It’s important for the rivalry to remain healthy so that the whole team can benefit from it. Rivalry is essential,” explained the 26-year-old defender.
Dilaver believes that the number of conceded goals isn’t dependent on one, unchanged defensive line. “Of course, it’s extremely important for the defenders to know one another well and to cooperate effectively. However, we synch during the training sessions. Our goal is to ensure that whenever the coach changes the defensive line, it doesn’t affect our performance. Every one of us who appears on the pitch knows what’s his task,” said Dilaver.
The footballer also emphasized versatility and ability to play as a centre-back and as a right-back. “It all comes down to the tactics for the particular match. What matters to me the most is that I am given a chance to play,” explained the Austrian who - so far - played in 14 games this season.
