On Friday night, Antoni Kozubal made his official debut in Poland’s senior national team in the clash with Portugal (1:5). The midfielder was the 70th Lech Poznań player to compete for the Polish squad.
The November international break is Kozubal’s first call-up for the senior national team. Coach Michał Probierz immediately gave a chance for the youngster to debut and on Friday night, in the away clash with Portugal, Kozubal made an appearance for the Polish senior team. The match wasn’t a successful one for the Poles as they ended up losing 1:5. However, for Kozubal, the Nations League game will hold a silver lining – in the 80th minute, the young midfielder made his official debut in the Polish national team when he replaced Krzysztof Piątek. Kozubal is the 70th Lech Poznań player to wear the white-and-red shirt. In recent years, two other Lech Academy players made their way made their way into the Polish A-team - Michał Skóraś (September 2022) and Filip Marchwiński (October 2023).
Michał Probierz’s squad has 4 points in their account after 5 games which puts them third in the group table. On November 18th (8:45 PM), the Poles will have an opportunity to bounce back in the home clash with Scotland. Apart from Kozubal, two other Lech Poznań players will have a chance to compete and debut for Poland – Michał Gurgul and Bartosz Mrozek.
