In the second friendly match of the winter break, Lech Poznań faced Botev Plovdiv. The game ended in a goalless draw.
On Friday, Lech Poznań's winter training camp is coming to an end. Early morning, the team will head back to Poland, but before they do, they have two training games scheduled. The first one occurred at 9:00 AM on Thursday; Lech faced Botev Plovdiv, who had just begun their training camp in Turkey.
For Lech, the clash with Botev was their second game in Turkey. Meanwhile, for the Bulgarian team, the Thursday training game will be the first one out of six. 4 days ago, Niels Frederiksen’s squad lost 1:3 against Dinamo Zagreb; Ali Gholizadeh scored the first goal of 2025 for the team from Poznań. The Iranian player was also a part of the starting line-up on Thursday.
However, it was Daniel Håkans who was the most active player on the pitch. He even had two good goal-scoring opportunities, but his both shots were stopped by Botev’s keeper. Michał Gurgul also came close to scoring, but Matvei Igonen also triumphed this time and intervened before the header flew past him.
In the second half, Dino Hotić could have changed the score when Lech was awarded a free kick. Lech’s fans might remember the Croatian’s famous free kick goal against Stal Mielec; unfortunately, his shot wasn’t as good this time, and Botev’s keeper intervened without problems.
Niels Frederiksen’s squad had two more free kicks that they could have converted into goals, however, Filip Jagiełło’s shot was blocked, whereas Hotić’s attempt didn’t cause problems for Botev’s defensive line. The second half was much more intense and aggressive than the first 45 minutes, hence the referee was forced to stop the game regularly and put an end to the disputes between players from both teams. In the end, neither of the sides found the back of the net, hence the game ended in a goalless draw.
Now Lech has one more friendly match to play, also on Thursday, but this time against FK Čukarički Belgrad. The kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM Polish time. The match will also be broadcast on the club’s official YouTube channel.
