Wisła Cracow – Lech Poznań 1:1

A last-minute goal helped Lech win an important point in the away clash with Wisła Cracow. However, the draw wasn’t a reason to celebrate for the side from Poznań as Skorża and his team expected to triumph Sunday afternoon.

Lech is in need of league points as they aim for the championship title, whereas Wisła Cracow is desperate to avoid relegation to the lower division. As a result, both teams had a lot at stake. Surprisingly, it was Wisła that seemed to handle the pressure better. The hosts attacked Lech since the first whistle and despite being unable to create good goal-scoring opportunities, it was clear that they wanted to find the back of the net, not just defend.

Before the referee announced halftime, the side from Cracow achieved their objective as Zdenek Ondrasek took advantage of a mistake made by Lech’s defensive line and effortlessly placed the ball in the net with a precise shot.

In the second half, Lech was braver with their offensive attempts, but they wasted a lot of good scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, their opponent twice came very close to scoring from a corner kick. One of their attempts from a set piece ended up with a goal but the referee disallowed it seeing that Tomasz Kwiatkowski fouled Lech’s keeper, Filip Bednarek.

In the meantime, Skorża’s squad failed to convert their scoring chances into goals as the likes of Mikael Ishak and Filip Marchwiński, who came in as a substitute, lacked precision in their attempts. Thankfully, just before the match was about to end, Lech managed to beat Wisła’s defensive line. Adriel Ba Loua sent a perfect pass to Antonio Milić who was in the box, and the latter redirected the ball into the back of the net with his heel. As a result, Lech could add a point to their league account.

In the next round, Lech Poznań will face Jagiellonia Białystok at home in a special match that celebrates the club’s 100th anniversary. The game will take place on Saturday, March 19th, at 8 pm.
