In the 26th league game of the season, Lech Poznan drew with Wisla Cracow 1:1 in an away clash. Christian Gytkjaer scored the only goal for the guests and it was the fifteenth time this season that the Dane successfully found the back of the net.
The Sunday game wasn’t going to be an easy one for the team from Poznan since the side from Cracow hasn’t lost a single match so far this year, and the have only conceded points once in the past few games. Nonetheless, Lech seemed to feel comfortable and confident playing in front of the Cracow crowd, even after their opponent scored a goal in the 6th. Sadlok was left unmarked in front of the box and his unimpressive shot turned into a great pass that reached Savicevic. The latter had lots of free space hence he effortlessly placed the ball in the back of the net.
Of course, Lech got back to work and focused on equalizing, but it seemed that most of the goals were successfully blocked by the defenders. For a majority of the time, Lech dominated the game by remaining in possession of the ball and pressing on Wisla’s defensive line, but whenever the hosts counterattacked, Lech was in trouble. Luckily for the side from Poznan, when Wojtkowski came one-on-one with van der Hart, the Dutch keeper intervened impressively and saved his team from losing another goal. Finally, in the 39th minute, Lech equalized. Kostevych sent a perfect cross into the box and Gytkjaer changed the path of the ball with the outside of his foot redirecting it into the net.
The second half looked fairly similar to the first 45 minutes with Lech holding on to the ball for most of the time. Still, the team from Poznan struggled to create clear goal-scoring opportunities. In the 65th minute, Moder’s accurate attempt from a free kick was successfully by Wisla’s keeper. A few minutes later, the guests got a perfect chance to score – an opportunity to win three points – when Jozwiak and Gytkjaer broke apart Wisla’s defence with quick and precise passes, but when Jozwiak came one-on-one with the keeper, he failed to find the target. Despite efforts, neither Lech nor Wisla managed to score again which meant that the two teams had to share league points and Lech still hasn’t won a single game in 2020.
