What is RESPECT campaign?

During EURO 2008 that was hosted by Austria and Switzerland, UEFA launched a campaign called "RESPECT" - a social responsibility initiative promoting respect, not only on, but also off the pitch.

Football is not only a sports discipline, but also a social phenomenon which has a strong influence on societies all over the world. Therefore, UEFA decided to use football in order to spread the need to respect other people and the environment we live, simultaneously fighting with racism and violence. Because of football's universal character and its popularity in Europe it is a great form of raising all those issues which have immense importance. The slogan "RESPECT" sums up all the values which are significant in modern Europe and European football.

Lech being a member of the European football family also agrees with and supports campaign RESPECT and its values. We want stadium to be free of all the negative phenomena. We want each and every match to teach respect for the rival; we want the teams to compete in the spirit of Fair Play and for those rules to be in force during matches, as well as after the referee's last whistle. We want the slogan "RESPECT" to be present everywhere and for it to help us create a better reality using football.

Therefore, together with our sponsor STS we decided to place the campaign's logotype on the match jerseys that Lech's players will wear when facing FC Basel in Switzerland. We hope for our initiative to receive the fans' approval, but also the endorsement of all the people who believe in the power of football the way we do.
