In the 15th round of Lotto Ekstraklasa Lech Poznan won with Ruch Chorzow 5:0. Jevtic scored the opening goal and Kownacki, Majewski, Robak and Pawlowski each added another goal to the tally as the minutes passed on.
Lech had control over the play since the opening minutes of the game. Shortly before the referee’s first whistle Gajos fired two shots from outside the box. Kownacki attempted to score too when he intersected the opponent’s pass, but the angle was too sharp for the young forward to place the ball in the net. Despite Lech’s domination, the team from Poznan had to remain cautious since Ruch had a couple of scoring chances too. In the 13th minute Oleksy converted a free kick into a shot on target, but Putnocky had no problems stopping the ball.
Gradually Ruch got more opportunities to score. In the 27th minute Niezgoda raced down the right flank and sent a good pass to Visnakovs, but the latter did not hit the ball in time. A period of Lech’s intensified attacks followed. In the 33rd minute Kedziora sent a cross into the box which Jevtic converted into a shot, but the Swiss’ attempt was blocked. Kedziora had a chance to score too and although his shot caused a lot of problems to the goalkeeper, the score remain a goalless draw.
Nonetheless, Lech eventually succeeded with its offensive actions. Kedziora’s cross into the box caused chaos in the penalty arena and Jevtic sent a half-volley into the back of the net. 4 minutes later Ruch’s goalkeeper was beaten once again. This time Kownacki received a ball from Kedziora, dribbled in between the defenders and sent the ball into the just next the post. Before the referee whistled for halftime, Makuszewski and Jevtic tried added another goal to the tally, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
Lech was determined to score more goals in the second half. Jevtic’s shot from outside the box was blocked by Ruch’s defense line. Arajuuri’s header was successfully stopped by the goalkeeper. However, in the 59th minute Lech scored the third goal of the night. Makuszewski spotted Majewski who was left unmarked, sent him the ball and the latter decided not to pass, but to shoot. Luckily for Lech, the ball fell into the back of the net. Interestingly, it was Majewski’s second goal for Lech, both of them scored in an away match against Ruch.
Three goals weren’t enough for Lech, so the offensive players kept on pushing. 3 minutes after coming on the pitch Robak was fouled in the box and the forward converted the penalty kick into a goal. In the 78th minute Gajos’ header caused some trouble to Ruch’s goalkeeper, but the hosts managed not to concede another goal… but only until Robak and Pawlowski built a great offensive action which ended with the latter placing the ball in the net from a close distance. The fourth goal was scored shortly before the final whistle and set the final score of the Friday clash.
