Ruch Chorzów - Lech Poznań 0:3

Lech’s domination was indisputable since the opening minutes of the game. However, despite controlling the play, Ruch was the first to fire a shot at the goal. The hosts’ attempt didn’t cause trouble to Lech’s defence line and since then on the guests started to dictate the terms of the match. Jevtic and Pawlowski were the first to try and surprise Ruch’s goalkeeper, but neither of them succeeded.

Nevertheless, it didn’t take long for Lech to score. In the 14th minute Jevtic approached a corner kick and sent a cross into the box, Kedziora extended the pass and Robak placed the ball in the net for the 6th time this season. Ruch was determined to equalize, but they had little good goal-scoring opportunities. Lipski’s shot in the 19th minute didn’t cause many problems to Lech’s defence line either.

In the 21st minute Makuszewski, Robak and Pawlowski built a great goal-scoring opportunity, but the latter’s finish was easy to save for the goalkeeper. 9 minutes later the score was already two to nil. Jevtic sent a pass to Pawlowski, the winger redirected the ball to Robak, while the forward left it for Majewski who was unmarked in the box and had no difficulties placing the ball in the net.

Ruch came out for the second half determined to catch up to their rival, but due to Lech’s defenders’ very solid performance that night, they found it hard to pass the defence line and surprise Buric. In the 52nd minute Lech settled the score. Jevtic spotted Pawlowski who was left unmarked, passed the ball to the winger and the latter raced towards the middle of the pitch and fired a shot at the goal.

Lech could have easily scored another goal, for instance in the 60th minute when Gumny sent a good cross into the box and Pawlowski was in the right place at the right time. However, the winger’s two attempts were a failure. On the other end of the pitch Przybecki had a good goal-scoring opportunity, but Nielsen stopped the winger from shooting at the last moment.

15 minutes before the end Lech came close to scoring the third goal again. Jevtic received the ball in the midfield, raced towards the goal and found some space for Majewski, but the latter’s shot was stopped by the goalkeeper. Meanwhile, in the 81st minute Hanzel managed to get the ball past Buric, but luckily for Lech Bednarek was guarding the goal and stopped the ball from rolling into the net. Neither of the teams managed to score again, thus when the referee whistled for the last time that evening, Lech’s players had reasons to celebrate.
