When moving to Poznan, did you recall the match in Szczecin when Pogon won with Lech 5:1 and you scored all 5 goals? Do you now want to make it up to the club?
Scoring 5 goals is something you will remember till the end of your days. The first thought I had when moving to Poznan was: what will the fans think of me? The game in Szczecin is a great memory to score as many goals is a wonderful moment. Probably the fans from Poznan remember those goals, however from now on they can be sure that I will keep on scoring, but only for Lech.
You are a very efficient player and Lech Poznan is the club with the best midfield in Poland. The team from Poznan has multiple players who are known for their assists, which can only influence positively your goal statistics.
That is true. The recent season has shown that now only forwards, but also midfielders score goals for Lech. It proves Lech's strength. I know that the chances to score a goal will always be there and I need to focus to turn them into goals. I am glad that Lech has an offensive style of play and most of all that the team has many goal attempts in every game, which is what any forward dreams of.
When you returned to Poland there were news that you really wanted to play for Lech. Was it true, or was it just gossip?
It's hard for me to take a stance on that matter. When returning to Poland I wanted to rebuild my reputation. The period spent in Turkey is a good memory, but in the past 6 months I did not play too often, and therefore all I wanted was to return to the starting lineup as soon as possible. I knew of some apparent interest from Lech, however there were no definitive talks, and so I signed a contract with Piast Gliwice.
How does it feel to be a lasher of Lech Poznan?
Back then it was something nice because the fans remembered my name. After the match many humoristic images and quotes appeared. Even though I was the lasher of Lech in that game, fortunately my name stuck in the mind of the fans and now hopefully it will be associated only positively.
Did you receive offers from different clubs?
Yes, I did. (laughs)
Are European cups the main reason for your transfer? What decided ultimately about your move to Poznan?
Most of all, Lech is the Champion of Poland. At first, I want to congratulate he players because after the primal round no one expected Lech to win the title. The team has shown great spirit in the fight for the Championship. When I received the offer from Poznan I did not hesitate because I really wanted to join the team from Poznan. There is a lot of hard work ahead, as we are to compete in the qualifications for the European cups. I really want to help the team and add some new spark to it.
During the last month you've been resting because of an injury. How are you feeling now?
I am doing pretty well. It's no secret that the recent period has been tough for me. When the ankle was practically healed, the injury renewed. The doctors in Poznan said that it isnt as bad and that soon I will be able to practice again. It's not yet perfect, however I hope to heal the injury here. There is still some time left till the first match, so I hope to be able to prepare for the season together with the team.
Will you start the preparations to the season on June 22nd with full intensity?
Before that there are training sessions and tests that and I want to take part in. I am focused on beginning the preparations for the season on June 22nd together with the rest of the team. The grouping in Gniewno begins 5 days later and I want to work there with full intensity.
Do you believe that your success from 2014 can be repeated and you will be the best goal scorer in the league once again, or will you no longer concentrate on it as much, considering that there as many scorers in Lech?
It is possible, but it's not a priority. The team winning is what matters the most and if I can help others score goals then I will be happy too. The title of the best goal scorer is within my reach, but what counts more is staying in form and remaining focused.
