In the last few matches of 2019, Lubomir Satka was positioned as a right-back. His performances on an unusual position were topped with a goal against Arka which helped the team from Poznan secure a draw. “I’m not a right-back, but that’s where I have been playing and I want to help the team the best I can,” said the 24-year-old.
“I only ever play on the wing when competing for the National Team,” explained the defender not long ago before he settled in the team from Poznan. Due to the recent injury of Robert Gumny and the indisposition of Tomasz Cywka, coach Zuraw was forced to rearrange the team to fill the gap.
As a result, Satka was forced to compete on the right wing in 384 out of the last 450 league minutes. Gumny suffered an injury in the recent clash with Piast Gliwice, therefore the Slovakian defender move to the right flank around the 60th minute of the match. Despite the fact that initially the player was criticized for a lack creativity in the offense, with every next game, there was undisputable progress.
The match against Arka Gdynia was a real test for Satka. The squad from Poznan was one goal down and in an attempt to win points, they created the most scoring chances so far this season.
“We were forced to play offensively due to the score,” explained “Lubo”. “As a result, I was forced to engage in the offense more often. Even though I’m not a right-back, but that’s where I have been playing and I want to help the team the best I can. I want to give my all,” added the defender.
Despite numerous goal-scoring chances created by various players, it was Satka who got Lech an equalizer. Towards the end of the match, he converted Jevtic’s corner kick into a goal. “This goal is an unforgettable moment for me, however, I wish it was worth three points. It’s the first league goal I scored for Lech, hence it will always hold a sentimental value,” emphasized Satka.
