Krzysztof Bąkowski, Filip Borowski (see photo), Patryk Gogół and Jerzy Tomal were called up for U-16 Polish National Team. The squad which is led by Marcin Dorna has a grouping scheduled for 4-12 May in Buftea, Romania. During the international training camp, the Polish side will play against Croatia, Romania, and Norway in friendly matches.
All four players participated in the most recent UEFA Development tournament which Poland finished 3rd in their 4-team group. The Polish squad lost to Turkey 0:2, won with Greeks 2:1, and drew with the Colombian team 0:0. Both goals scored during the UEFA tournament belonged to Lech Poznan homegrown players - Patryk Gogół and Filip Borowski.
Three of the youngsters who are going to travel to Romania on 4th of May – midfielder Gogół, and defenders Filip Borowski and Jerzy Romal – compete daily for Lech’s Younger Juniors side. The trio has been performing impressively during the current campaign which is reflected in their club team’s position in the table – the Younger Juniors are ranked 1st in group B of the U-17 Central Junior League. Apart from the mentioned players, Bąkowski - the young goalkeeper who has recently been promoted to Lech’s senior team - was also recognized by the U-16 national team coach.
Between 7th and 11th of May, the youth squad is going to compete in a friendly tournament during which the Polish players will face Croatia, Romania, and Norway. The matches are respectively scheduled for 7th of May (3 pm), 9th of May (5 pm), and 11th of May (1 pm). The games against Croatia and Norway will be played at a local stadium in Buftea, whilst the clash with Romania will be held at a sports venue in Mogosoaia.
