Despite being down by two goals, Lech managed to get a draw against Raków Częstochowa, in the 7th league match of the season. As a result, the team from Poznań won an important point against a difficult rival.
Early in the match, Lech could have taken the lead as Mikael Ishak had not one, but three goal-scoring opportunities within a few seconds. His first two shots were successfully stopped by Raków’s goalkeeper, whereas the third one was blocked by one of the defenders at the last moment.
The wasted opportunities took revenge on Lech in the 14th minute when the hosts were awarded a penalty kick as a result of Barry Douglas’ foul. Marcin Cebula confidently converted the scoring chance into a goal. Shortly after halftime, Raków changed the score to 2:0 thanks to Sebastian Musiolik.
However, Lech’s players didn’t get discouraged and they continued looking for ways to catch up to their opponent. And they succeeded, twice. First, Joao Amaral converted a great pass from Jakub Kamiński into a precise header, and 15 minutes later, the Polish winger earned Lech a penalty kick. Ishak effortlessly converted the opportunity into an equalizer with a strong shot under the crossbar.
The team from Poznań even had a chance to win the match but Amaral, who was positioned 5 meters from the goal, sent the ball flying above the crossbar. Raków also had another goal-scoring opportunity but Micky van der Hart saved his team from losing an important league point.
