The match in Radom is to be forgotten by Lech’s squad. The team from Poznań lost 1:2 in the clash with the top-division newcomers but managed to hold onto the leader’s seat in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table.
The match against Radomiak began in the worst possible way for the guests. Before 15 minutes had passed, the referee – following video verification – awarded Radomiak a penalty kick as a result of Jesper Karlstrom’s handball. Karol Angielski converted the perfect goal-scoring opportunity into a goal for the hosts.
It took a while for Lech to get back up and before they did, Radomiak beat their defensive line once again. This time Maurides converted a good team effort into a precise shot from a few meters. The second goal made things much harder for the PKO BP Ekstraklasa leaders.
At halftime, coach Skorża made two changes – he sent in Michał Skóraś and Nika Kvekveskiri – but the tactical moves didn’t bring desired results. The young winger did bring in some fresh energy to the team, but his offensive attempts didn’t cause real problems to the hosts. Only around the 75th minute did Lech get a glimpse of hope as the referee gave them a penalty kick which Mikael Ishak converted into a goal.
However, the team from Poznań was incapable of winning points against the top-division newcomers on Saturday afternoon and therefore had to accept their second loss this season. Still, Lech remains the leader of PKO BP Ekstraklasa. In their last league game of the year, the team from Poznań will face Górnik Zabrze at home.
