Shortly after an exhilarating UECL quarterfinal clash with ACF Fiorentina, Lech Poznań travelled to Radom where they drew 1:1 in a league game with the local Radomiak.
Lech faced Radomiak without two key players – Mikael Ishak and Filip Marchwiński – both of whom are currently injured. Despite the absences, Lech got their first goal-scoring opportunity just 30 seconds into the match. Unluckily for the guests, Afonso Sousa’s shot bounced off one of Radomiak’s defenders and hit the crossbar. John van den Brom's squad remained in control of the first half, but to everyone’s surprise, the hosts were the first to score. In the 9th minute, Luis Rocha beat Filip Bednarek with a great shot from a free kick.
The team from Poznań dominated also in the second half, but their efforts resulted in just one goal. Artur Sobiech found the back of the net with a clever, technical shot in the 84th minute. For the experienced striker, it was the second match in a row when he scored.
John van den Brom’s players were determined to win the match, but their goal-scoring attempts lacked accuracy. On the other end of the pitch, Radomiak had a chance to turn the tables in the closing minutes of the game, but they also failed to place the ball in the net. As a result, the match ended in a 1:1 draw and the two teams had to share points.
Lech’s next league match is scheduled for April 30th, 5:30 pm – that’s when they will face Górnik Zabrze at home.
