Lech Poznań players have been given time off to recover after the 2020/21 season and prepare for the upcoming campaign. The squad’s holidays end on June 14th – that’s when Lech’s preseason is going to officially start. “We will have six weeks to work at our own pace before we have to fight for points again,” explained Maciej Skorża who scheduled six friendly games for his squad.
Every player has been given an individual training plan to complete during the upcoming few weeks when the whole squad is on holidays. On June 14th, the team will return to work and undergo medical and fitness tests before officially starting the preseason preparations at Bułgarska street. “On June 29th, we are going to travel to Opalenica where the preseason training camp is going to take place and we will train there until July 9th,” said Lech’s coach.
Coach Skorża planned six friendly matches for the preseason, two of which will be against international teams. First, Lech is going to face MFK Ružomberok, a team from Slovakia that is currently ranked 7th in the local league and then the team from Poznań will play against FC Midtjylland, the vice-leader of Danish top-division and the participant of last season’s Champions League edition. In addition, Lech is going to test their form against a few Polish rivals, including Zagłębie Lubin, Arka Gdynia, and Miedź Legnica. The exact details of the matches might still change as the schedule is being finalised.
Where will the matches take place? “The games played on July 3rd and July 7th will be played at Bułgarska street, in front of a crowd, since we want to recreate the conditions in which the team is going to fight for points a few weeks later. All other matches, apart from the last one, will open for the public. The last game of the preseason is going to be played in private conditions as it will be our last test ahead of the start of the league,” explained Maciej Skorża.
Two of the friendly clashes will be held in Opalenica, however, fans will still be allowed to watch. Lech’s supporters are also going to be able to watch their team face the Slovakian opponent, but the details of this particular game are still to be decided. In addition, the first five sparring games will be broadcasted on Lech TV.
The 2021/22 Ekstraklasa season is scheduled to kick off on July 23rd - the exact dates and times of the matches will be announced soon.
