And the Polish Cup goes to... Legia Warsaw who beat Lech Poznan in the Polish Cup final 0:1. Aleksandar Prijovic scored the goal that was worth the trophy and had the team from Warsaw explode in joy when the referee whistled for the last time.

The Polish Cup final was one of the most important matches in the whole season and thus neither team can be denied putting up a good fight, especially in the midfield where the two sides struggled to dominate. The first half, however, was marked by Lech's extraordinary goal-scoring opportunities. The first and most dangerous action built by Lech was finished off by Pawlowski in the 5th minute with a technical shot that stopped on the post.

A few moments later Buric was there to save the team from Poznan since a similarly dangerous shot was fired in the direction of Lech's goal by Nikolic. It was the sole goal-scoring opportunity that Legia got in the first half. Afterwards, the current Polish champions started to dominate. In the 14th minute Lovrencsics received a good pass from Pawlowski and had only the goalkeeper in front of him, but Pazdan intervened just in time. A minute later Kaminski came close to scoring. The defender recovered the ball in the penalty area, but despite a close distance to the goal, he sent the ball flying about the crossbar.

Lech tried to keep the ball in its possession for as much time as possible, but Legia left little space for their opponent to play passes. The pressing employed by the team from Warsaw forced Lech to remain extremely cautious as any loss could lead to a lethal counterattack. However, in the 31st minute Linetty and Tralka recovered the ball from Prijovic and the latter sent the ball to Kownacki who had an empty path towards the goal. Nevertheless, the good chance was wasted as the young forward let the defender deprive him of the ball in an easy manner.

The opening minutes of the second half also belonged to the team from Poznan who managed to dominate the midfield. Nonetheless, the lack of precision and efficiency meant that there was little advantage in Lech's domination. In the 51st minute Linetty received a pass right near the penalty area and redirected the ball to Lovrencsics. The Hungarian player was close to placing the ball in the net, but the goalkeeper's desperate and courageous intervention saved Legia from conceding a goal.

An hour into the match the team from Warsaw started to control the play by remaining in possession of the ball. The period of domination was effectively exploited by the players from the capital and soon converted into a goal. In the 69th minute Prijovic ran in between the defenders and turned the pass from the right flank into a goal, which put his team a step closer to the trophy.

Shortly afterwards Lech's intensified offensive was launched, while Legia moved back deeper and waited to see what Lech was about to do. In the 72nd minute the play was stopped and resumed after 8 minutes time due to the smoke and this is when the staff from Poznan called its players and led a quick meeting. Although Lech remained attacking desperately, apart from Kaminski's free kick, Legia's goalkeeper had little work to do.

The referee called for 12 additional minutes that Lech wanted to use to score an equalizer. However, Legia was successful in cutting off the passes, fouling and stopping any offensive actions as they approached its goal. Thus, since Lech had no more good chances to score, when the referee whistled finish time, the players from Warsaw began their celebrations.
